This overview shows my current focus and previous work. An easy way to get a global idea with the possibility to go into more detail for several works.
My current focus lies with the DA4GA project: 2.6g 239m/s aka ‘bulletproof-skin’. An exploration of the social, political, ethical and cultural issues surrounding safety.
The Essence of Beeing shows nature’s genius at its work. Both the light-bending and preserving properties of amber symbolise for me the tool with which nature fights a transient world, evolution. The light-bending property of amber ‘evolves’ the bees behind it, while the preserving property of amber shows the ‘un-evolved’ ancestors of bees.
2008-2009, decay, loss, an unwanted reality and the human desire to keep and hold.
This last collection provides examples that represent my work from 2006 to 2007, it includes mostly works from organic matter, capable of decay or the product of decay. I focussed on the aesthetic image at the moment of creation, ignoring the lifespan of these materials.
